Active-Healthy Kids Yukon Toolkit Program


The Active-Healthy Kids Toolkit Program is a comprehensive training and resource opportunity to help all who work, or care for children 0 to 5 years to provide daily, quality physical activity.

The Active-Healthy Kids Yukon Toolkit Program encompasses of a one day training session that introduces caregivers to the tools to help develop physical literacy in children and support active play in the child care setting. Active play improves coordination and motor skills, teaches leadership, encourages imagination and builds confidence. Active-Healthy Kids though is much more… it is an exercise in community mobilization and partnership building where various stakeholders come together for the purpose of optimizing the well-being of young children and the adults who work with them..

Outcomes of Active-Healthy Kids Yukon Toolkit Program
1. to contribute to the development of a healthy, active Yukon in a manner that is practical, responsive and supportive.
2. To educate and build awareness of the importance of physical activity, physical literacy, active play and healthy eating habits in children and the adults who work with them.
3. To introduce physical activities that will create healthy lifestyle patterns so physical activity becomes automatic.

Active-Healthy Kids Yukon Toolkits & Program Manuals
The Active-Healthy Kids Yukon Toolkit workshop is delivered by a trained facilitator using the toolkit materials and a program manual. The toolkit materials are multi-purpose, safety inspected, inclusive and designed to support appropriate, quality physical activity and motor skill development for children.

The program manual provides a foundation for the training day but is the core for the program user once the training day is over. The manuals are visually rich, practically written, organized by 5 age ranges within the 0 to 5 years age span and in lessen plan format.

Implementation materials will also be available with the Active-Healthy kids Toolkit Program which is comprehensive in nature and include everything that would be needed to organize, promote, educate and deliver the Active-Healthy Kids Toolkit Program. Materials include: Active Kids Newsletter, stickers and banners.

The Active-Healthy Kids Yukon Toolkit Program offers two different types of workshops with two types of toolkits available. The large toolkit is designed for groups such as daycares, municipality programs, libraries or anyone who provides programs for large groups of 0 to 5 year old children. The medium toolkit is designed for home based caregivers.
